shinegirl-starter-packshotShine is…..  For every girl.

Shine is run as an 8 week course with a maximum of 15 participants. It is run in an informal environment to explore the Shine girl concepts through hands on, practical and interactive sessions. Sessions are approximately 1 ½ hours long, and best run in school time. Shine girl is aimed at year 7 -10 girls. There is no obvious Christian content in the curriculum but it is based on Biblical principles.

We believe that everyone is uniquely valuable and that every life counts. Shine outworks this through a personal development programme designed by Hillsong City Care to help girls and women tackle issues of self esteem, value and self worth. The programme takes a practical approach, exploring core values and learning life principles.

God is faithful

Deuteronomy 31:6 (AMP)
(6) Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you.

As Christians and especially as a women in leadership we can find ourselves in situations that are beyond our natural capabilities where we simply have to trust the Holy Spirit to fill our mouths with the right words, hearts with right character and faith to stand. God promises to NEVER leave us so just wanted to encourage all you lovely ladies that today, whatever you face know that God is your biggest fan cheering you on, He loves you and believes you have what it takes no matter what fear, enemy or problem you are faced with. Let go and Trust Him, He will never let you fall.

This weeks post is from Angela McFetridge who along with her husband Kevin McFetridge Pastor the  Zeal Church in Okato.

Have you smiled today

Psalm 28:7 reads:

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
and with my song I praise him.”

Today has been one of those days when I needed to remind myself to smile. I had been trying to post something all day to encourage you beautiful ladies  but the internet had been playing up ( often the way in life as we know it huh?) Continue reading Have you smiled today

Reflections on Easter

This past week I have been reflecting on Easter, here are some thoughts…

Friday reminds us of death and of heartache. Saturday comes and with this day there is mourning, there is a desperate state of being, there comes the questions, the ‘what if’s’ the ‘if only’s’…. BUT!! Sunday is coming, and when Sunday comes, JOY is restored. HOPE is here and Jesus is ALIVE!!

Our daily lives can become a bit like Easter… We hit a “Friday” where death and heartache, trials and strife come our way….as the heaviness of what has taken place sets in on our lives we move into a state of “Saturday”, but we often get stuck in “Saturday” Continue reading Reflections on Easter

The Power of Words

In Genesis God created the world ‘by saying…’, and then created man in His image. He made us with powerful words, and to carry powerful words, 2 Samuel 23: 2 “the Spirit of The Lord spake by me, and His word was in my tongue”. Psalm 45:1″ My heart is indicting a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer”.

We have been created to create Continue reading The Power of Words

Of Sheep and Shepherds

I was teaching the kids at church about Jesus the shepherd recently.  I remembered my pet lambs from a childhood growing up on a sheep farm and explained how my lambs always knew my voice, even years later, and would come running when I called them by name.

Reflecting on how much care the shepherd took to protect and care for his sheep in Biblical times, I marvel at the ingenuity of Jesus’ parable of His care for us in John 10. He calls us by name: our Father. He leads us: our teacher and Continue reading Of Sheep and Shepherds
